Losing weight is difficult, and keeping weight off is even more troublesome. Professional health gurus are yet to explain the relationship between sleep and weight. Yet some fitness stars are often pointing out potential weight-loss advantages which can be obtained through a proper sleep schedule.
Fitness star Abdelrahman Hamdi, who also goes by Atto Hamdy, the co-founder of Fitness Freak company aims to help people with health habits, beat emotional eating and eventually hit their body composition goals.
Atto Hamdy says that, “being short on sleep will have an effect on your weight because too much and too little sleep can help your body cook up a recipe for weight gain.” He added that, “a decent night’s rest can eliminate the negative health impacts of sleep deprivation, and therefore improve your chances of staying awake for longer hours, hence burning more calories.”
You do not need another diet, and you only need to sleep well and maintain and healthy psychology. Atto Hamdy claims that, “when you’re short on sleep, it is natural for your body to become lethargic. You may be tempted to skip exercise because you’re too tired to do it, or get takeout for dinner instead of cooking a healthy meal.” Similarly, experts agree that obtaining enough shut-eye is as necessary to health, well-being, and weight as are diet and exercise.
Atto Hamdy also states that “there’s a solid correlation between having a proper sleep schedule and metabolism.” Having a healthy metabolism will lead to healthy habits, whether it being weight gain for skinnier people, or weight loss for overweight people. The athlete says that “sleep is often neglected compared to diet and exercise” and that “to have a healthy body, one needs exercise, nutrition, along with 8 hours of continued sleep.”
Generally, adolescents and children often lack proper sleep due to being more active than adults. However, some teens and children get fat regardless, despite being awake for longer hours.
“This happens because of two things: not getting enough sleep, and lazing around,” Atto Hamdy explains. “For example, if a teenager sleeps less, rests a lot, and snacks uncontrollably, there is no doubt said teenager will become overweight as time passes.”
The national star insists that having short sleep hours in youngsters will most definitely result in metabolic irregularities. This will lead children and teenagers to skip breakfast, exaggerate the intake of carbohydrates and fats, and prefer laying down over mobility.
As for adults, Atto Hamdy claims that “studies suggest that individuals obtaining less than 6 hours of sleep are diagnosed as obese. This can increase the danger of developing conditions that interfere with sleep, like apnea and depression.”
Even though additional studies are required to grasp this affiliation, consultants encourage up sleep quality when treating obesity in adults.
In today’s world, snoozing can be tough, significantly when all of your screens. Computers, TVs, cell phones, tablets, lure you into staying up simply a bit longer. So, here are some Atto Hamdy’s advices:
- Turn off your laptop, cell phone, and TV at least an hour before you hit the sack.
- Save your room for sleep. Try to feel relaxed and unleash, instead of work or entertainment.
- Follow a proper schedule, waking and retiring at the same time each day, even on weekends.
- Build a bed-time ritual. It isn’t the time to tackle huge problems. Instead, take a warm shower, meditate, or read.
- Turn off the lights. Darkness cues your body to release the natural sleep hormone melatonin, whereas light suppresses it.
- Avoid consumption of serious meals and alcohol near to the time of sleep, which may disturb you and make it difficult to sleep. Do not take soda, tea, coffee, and chocolate after 2 p.m., caffeine and nicotine can stay in your body for 5 to 6 hours.
It is often difficult to urge enough sleep nightly. Between works, family, responsibilities, planning and cooking healthy meals and consistent exercise, sleep can get placed on the backburner. But if you actually want to be healthy and lose your fat, make your nightly shuteye a priority. Quality sleep goes along with proper nutrition and exercise. With proper sleep, you’ll also get more out of your workouts because your body are going to be ready to recover properly.
Sleep should therefore be considered as essential alongside diet and physical activity as a part of a healthy lifestyle.
